This is an actual account of my health and injuries over 20 years ago. Between

the ages of 8 and 20, I was subjected to a host of traumas.

Here is the result of accumulated and acute trauma.

Disc herniations at C-6 & L-5 (cervical  x-ray at 20 yrs.), vertebral lip fracture C-5 and L-4, both shoulder rotator cuffs torn to some degree, dislocated left knee, torn L & R meniscus, avulsion of the genuar articularis, avulsion of the vastus intermidus from the point of attachment and a torn quadriceps vastus lateralis.

Later that year, an auto accident

f

inally left me in the hospital for four days. Half the time I was semi-comatose. My weight was 132 lbs., and I suffered with dysentery and unrelenting fatigue. This all before my 20th birthday.

I went to my doctor and began treatment. After two months in physical therapy and still in great pain, I began to lose bowel and bladder control.  My orthopedist said these problems sounded emotional and were probably not a direct result of my injuries. "There may be some psychological pressure from the accident," he said, "and you should seek out a psychiatrist." I did. I needed help. I didn't care where it came from. The psychiatrist prescribed a couple of anti-depressant drugs, which left me extremely lazy (more so than I already was), sleeping 10 to 16 hours per day. This went on for weeks, until my father convinced me that something was not right.

He advised me to seek out a "bone setter" (this is what my father called doctors of chiropractic). “They might be able to help you,” my dad said. “No one else seems to be able to." At this point, I could not sit up in bed for more than a few minutes – the pain just drove me back down.  So, very reluctantly, I went.

I was helped on the very first visit to Dr. Timothy Francis. Within a few weeks, he helped me regain my bowel and bladder control. My pain was reduced enough to function; I began to gain strength and feel less tired. Not something I wanted to like, but it was helping me...

Dr. Francis and his staff educated me about how the body functions and how the chiropractic adjustments and applied kinisiology in conjunction with designed nutritional support I was receiving were helping to restore my health. This along with the simple daily diet modifications seemed reasonable and, more importantly, were working. Everything began to ring true to me. Keep in mind that I was a devout skeptic at the age of 19, and I am even more so now in my mid 40s.

The damage to my lower back was so bad that if Dr. Francis hadn't been successful, the next step would have been major back surgery – removing the disc and fusing my fifth lumbar vertebrae. Although my disc is not fully “cured,” I am fully functional. I receive regular adjustments and acupuncture treatments. I also use whole-food supplements to maintain and improve my health.

And so, possibly like you, I have had challenges both physical and emotional. I persevere. The body's ability to overcome health obstacles is truly amazing. We all have the ability to heal. To improve.

I hope to instill an understanding of these concepts in readers of my story. Perhaps my experiences can be a catalyst in your search for safe, effective methods of regaining and maintaining your health.

Warmly, George

Nearly losing his life as a teen, he understands pain and the issues that accompany it.

"Having experienced much discomfort as a child and teen dealing with disc pain and chronic back issues, including fecal and urinary incontinence, I know all too well a patient's concern with pain. I am dedicated to treatment & education about self and family care.  Often, symptoms are misunderstood and inaccurately diagnosed. I look at the big picture. I get to the root of the problem.”
