Corporate wellness programs: a great investment

corporate wellness imageEach year, businesses see their company profits eroded by work-related injuries and illnesses.

Nationally, $1.20 per $100 in payroll spending goes toward workers compensation, retraining costs, employee absenteeism, decreased productivity and the resulting faulty products.

Employee wellness plans hike productivity

A recent study by St. John Health found that 76 percent of employers feel it is an employer's responsibility to promote wellness and healthful living practices to its employees. But only 47 percent of the companies surveyed have a formal employee wellness promotion strategy.

Employee wellness programs help companies reduce their health care costs an average of $3.72 for each dollar invested, another St. John study found. In addition, companies average $5.06 in savings from reduced absenteeism for each dollar invested in a wellness program.

"Wellness programs offer businesses of all sizes a powerful, proactive strategy for managing health care costs," said Elliot Joseph, president and CEO of St. John Health. "These programs save companies money, boost productivity and motivate employees."

Study: Chiropractic saves money

A Utah Workers Compensation Board study looked at 3,000 compensation patients with identical diagnoses. Here are some of the Utah study's results:

  • Costs for doctors of chiropractic care were dramatically less than those for medical care.
  • Medical care costs averaged 10 times the cost of chiropractic care.
  • Chiropractic care results in fewer surgeries!

Naturally Well, for health alternatives

Nearly 70 percent of Americans use some form of alternative health care, research shows. Dr. George Kosmides' Sherman Oaks chiropractic center has created Naturally Well, a program that eases the way for clients to take advantage of these "complementary" health care approaches.

Our Naturally Well services are not meant to replace customary medical treatments, but to work hand-in-hand with them.
